The Steeplechase Cancer Center was the site of today's dedication ceremony to commemorate the official opening of the Dr. Daniel Frimmer Healing Garden. The garden, located just steps from the front entrance of the Center, provides a quiet retreat for patients, their families and visitors to the Steeplechase Cancer Center. Welcoming benches are situated among plantings of local grasses, flowers and shade trees, inviting visitors to relax and renew while enjoying the beauty of the garden and its calm and peaceful setting. Heartfelt speeches, one given by longtime friend and patient of Dr. Frimmer, Steve Kalafer of Flemington Car & Truck Country and another by Dr. Frimmer’s partner, friend and fellow “Brooklyn Boy”, Dr. Charles Leff, highlighted the ceremony. (Click here for videos) Kenneth Bateman, Somerset Medical Center’s CEO, also spoke and told of Dr. Frimmer’s legacy in the development of programs to improve end-of-life care and of his tireless, compassionate dedication to cancer research and patient care.
Dr. Frimmer's wife, Debbie Frimmer, was joined by Steve Kalafer, Kenneth Bateman, John von Stade (Chairman of the Somerset Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees), Jamie Rik (Chairman of the SMC Board of Directors) and Ray Fino, (Co-chair of the committee that raised the funds for the Frimmer Garden) for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
A luncheon followed where Debbie Frimmer read the Blessing for the Dedication which was written by her daughter, Rabbi Dara Frimmer.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy the beautiful Frimmer Healing Garden on their next visit to the Steeplechase Cancer Center.
